Murano Smoked Glass Disc Chandelier by Vistosi, Italy 1970s
A striking chandelier with a solid brass frame and elegant smoked glass discs handblown by the fornace Vistosi in Murano, Italy. The classic vintage chandelier boasts four tiers of curved brass arches, which emphasizes the shape of the round discs. From each brass curvature, one glass disc suspends as if floating in mid-air. There are 30 discs in total, and three extras for future replacements, if needed. This piece emantes that chic, sexy 70s vibe, and the faceted smoked glass creates a beautiful, warm, diffused light when illuminated. The fixture features 13 light sockets, which take standard bulbs.
VISTOSI: Emblematic of a unique marriage between artistry and technical excellence, Vistosi lighting fixtures were born from a rich Italian glassmaking tradition. The history of Vistosi reaches as far back as 1640, when the Gazzabin family of Murano opened a furnace for producing Murano glass art. The modern iteration of the Vistosi company was founded in 1945 by Guglielmo Vistosi, a Gazzabin family heir. During the 1950s, Vistosi's grandchildren, Gino and Luciano Vistosi, began specializing in lighting. In the 1960s and ‘70s, the company worked with renowned Italian furniture designers like Adalberto Dal Lago, Ettore Sottsass, and Gae Aulenti, ans well as Italian architect and designer Angelo Mangiarotti.

CONDITION: In original vintage condition, with wear commensurate of age and use. Some patina to brass. No chips or breakage noted on any glass discs. Retains the original wiring. Comes with three extra glass discs for future replacements, if needed
