Marcello Fantoni for Raymor 'Cityscape' Handpainted Ceramic Lamps, Italy, 1960s
A monumental pair Marcello Fantoni for Raymor 'Cityscape' lamps. Made in the 1960s from chunky earthenware ceramic, and handpainted with wonderfully expressive architectural elements in orange, brown, tan, and green hues. These lamps embody the quintessential mid century modern style, with heavily incised geometric or skyscraper-like architectural motifs on all sides. They sit atop a distressed wooden base with felted bottoms. Well documented in the Marcello Fantoni for Raymor, Italy archives. Presumably hand-signed at underside of ceramic base.
